i had a large silver dollar that acted very similar, i thought he was a gone'r, however a last ditch attempt was to put him in a friends tank with 2 other silver dollars, he is now happy as can be!! |

dont worry about the fish starving itself. they can go for 2 months without food.
the fact that it lies on its side would suggest swimbladder problems. when the fish does try to swim does he sink when he stops swimming?
it could be internal parasites of some kind too?
id sit it out and see what occurs. |
