Hi all, my zebra spat the babies out yesterday was expecting around 4 but I've counted 16 so far.
They are well sweet.
As I have mentioned before in another thread they are Hybrid.
Having seen them now I'm sure the father is a lombardi.

i dont think Hybrids are all bad, i think it would be quite nice and orginal to have some, i wish i did

someone with more experience might be able to tell us KittyKatty

maybe they are weaker due to mixed genes??? not sure

I'm sure she tried to say no but being a male he wouldn't take no for an answer.
And I'm sure he got her when she was sleeping.

malawimad We 'ill see!
I managed to put her on her own before she released them.
I couldn't let the other eat them not after she had cared for them so well.
Don't know if I can keep all 16+ so I'll think about it.
I also got given a pair of firemouths yesterday & I think they could be nearly ready to bread.
Time will tell.mmm

Women are a superior race.....

anything that bleeds for 4 days and doesn't die is an oddball in anyones eyes!

09-08-2006
15:49 by kitkat
Eye might do that.
I've always had firemouth's (5) in with the mbuna,never had a problem.
But you know me first sign of any bother & I re home them!

Years ago when i was 18 i had a crack at Mbuna for the first time, chucked a load of firemouths in with them, they we're ok, for about half hour and then ended up having to re-tank them......

You always fortunate with stuff like that aren't ya KK x

Didn't you say a girl?
2 to 1 I'm sure your's will be a happy house.
Just make sure as she gets older you have 2 bathrooms.
One for her & one for the Mrs.
Good luck with the wee one I'm sure you are really looking forward to the birth.xx

Keith i would leave them in with the mbuna.
when I bought my first tropical tank 2nd hand I went with the in tensions of buying it just to re house my cold water fish.
When we got there it had some beautiful tropical fish & we was offered them with the tank.
We decided to keep them.
Not knowing anything about tropical's at the time we didn't know what they were.
Later we found out they were a mixture of mostly mbuna, with American cichlids & also some community.
They have always lived together for a (few years now) & only ever had any bother with the male mbuna harassing the females when they want to mate.
This has only happened twice.

Yes we are having a baby girl, She will be called "Elissia", here is a picture of her in Helen womb, this was a three dimensional scan i had done at a private hospital in barnsley, we also have a half hour dvd of "Elissia" but cant post that.....

I would advise 3d scans to anyone who is expecting a baby, the photo's and dvd will be something you cherish for life and well worth 200 notes....

take a look, look closely and you can make out her face, one of her hands and a foot!
