Hi guys, i think that my oscars are depressed. I found my black oscar hovering at the bottom and swimming real slowly around the tank. I fed it's favourite food, mealworms and prawns. It's a bit more active now. but now the other oscar is doing the same thing.
i don't think that it is ill. Just depressed. Any advice. |

the tank is a rio 300. there is (these are aproximate sizes.)
7x silver dollar 3-5 inch
1x fiemouth 3 inch
1x parrot cichlid 2 1/2 inch
1x gold severum 4 inch
2x oscar 6 inch
2x hoplo catfish 3-4 inch
1x pleco 2 1/2 ich
2x ancistrus 1 1/2 - 2 inch
well overstocked, doesn't seem to take much notice of advice to cut down on fish. the oscars are probably fed up being crammed in

yep i would probably guess at nitrate poisoning. tried to give bruce advice in the past but falls on deaf ears. |

I checked the nitrite It's zero, and all other water water tests came back fine, but today they are much happyer. I got rid of the pacu's and i am relocateing the parrot and severum into my 100 gallon tank.
It must have just been from stress and been crowded. That or because every thing getting in it's territory. |

Just a small question. You have a 100 gallon tank and you keep all those fish in a 300 litre rio? |

Yeah thats because the other is full as well, i'm taking another 5 fish to sheffield aquatics this weekend. |

I have a question too, I bought 4 oscars last week, two tigers and two albinos. one albino sits in the corner at the bottom or behind one of the filters. they are still young now at only about 1 3/4 - 2 1/4 inches long. the other three are playfull and eat very well. Any ideas? |

this one died tonight but the other three thrive on. Will the smaller one now take on the role of the "runt" ? |
