thought i would do this as a thread, it plays an important role in many of our fish-keeping lives!!!

For the record, i refer to dechlorinators, chloramine removers, heavy metal removers.

Wondering what does the best job for the best value and WHERE do you buy it or order it

I currently use 2-litres of Nutrafin Aqua Plus that i buy down local fish shops (Home Marine - Crews Hill) for £20.99

10ml per 70 litres as a dechlorinator and 10ml per 35 litres to remove chloramine

I use the 10ml per 35 litres,

Works out at... am assumming the average peep on here has about 500 litres total tank water altogether, and am averaging 30% weekly water changes as thats what i believe in (tropical fish)

Cost per week 500 litres / 30% change = £0.45p

i used to use Tetra Aqua Safe (500ml), costs about £12 from most fish shops, 5ml per 10 litres, using the above formula that would work out as £1.80 per week (4 times more expensive)

We use Waterlife's Haloex with Aloe Vera which we get from our LFS 'Golls Aquatics'. We get a 500ml bottle for £15.25 which treats 5,000 gallons.

DB - i checked the link

dead cheap, just under $10 but shipping to UK is $64

all in all (even with postage) using my above forumula getting the bottle that treats 2500 gallons equates to £0.55p per week, so i am still better off with my £20.99 2L Nutrafin,

BUT - do you really pay that postage DB, coz the shipping charge makes up 85% of total cost of product??????

DB - sorry being a bit slow, i guess you bulk buy it, rather than buying just one bottle???

http://www.aquatics-online.co.uk/Z174352.asp

Including postage you can get 1000ml Tetra Pond Aqau-Safe (treats 20,000 litres) for £19.48

That works out at £0.15 per week on my formula, think i have found my supply here

Think of the difference based on just 500 litres tank water

Aqua Safe 500ml bottle from shops equals £1.80 per week

Pond Safe (as above) £0.15 per week
