Just bought myself a 6 footer but im having to do loads of work to the cabinet and built in hood to get it spanking.

Putting a monster eheim pro 3 on it (twice the size of a rubbish fx5).

Gonna paint the back of tank blue, any ideas what to use???

And do you know of any 300+ watt heaters that'll do around 350-400 litres...?

Cheers

for heaters why not just use a few 150 watts? that way theres back up if one stops working

Plain old blue gloss from B&Q is what i used for the back of mine, just beware of the fumes mate. Even the smell free version might still have an effect!

was just about to say same thing Rob, but i think you would still need a main one of 300W coz of volume of water, the back up could be a 150-200W i guess? one set to 80F and the back up set much lower, say 73F

but guess it depends, Jake is it a 6x2x2 ?

i was told that using a heater thats too small in wattage, leads to heater being on virtually all the time (in winter) and thus having to work very hard and this can shorten its life and lead to problems???

Its only a small 6'x15x18, dont want to clutter it up with stuff hence looking into just one biggun....

TMC do external inline heaters but these are slightly too powerful.

Will grab some blue gloss then.

only my own thoughts , i dont like the blue painted background it reminds me of the fish stores, i prefer o natural let the alge grow.

in a 6 ft tank youd need at least 2 x 200w heaters or even 300ws that way they would be on less , in band q they can make any colour gloss that you want so if you see a nice colour that you like take a pic or the object in and they make it . the best way of not cluttering the tank is to add a sump , while it empty

i agree with wayne you need 2 x 200w heaters to avoid cold spots.
When i bought my 400ltr rena tank they supplied 2x 200w heaters, and i think rena know what theyre doing
