hi everyone,
First can I say thanks for being here to listen to me, I hope you can help.
I have had my Biorb tank for about 2 months(it was given to me stocked with Mollies).
O ver the weekend I had 2 deaths. A water snail and a Siamese Fighting fish both I introduced when i first got the tank.
The snail is a mystery but the Fighting fish bloated out like a balloon on Saturday night and died over sunday night. The 3 mollies and 3 Neons remaining all seem fine.
I tested the water, PH Amonia and Nitrates all fine. It has only been 2 weeks since I cleaned the tank, I cleaned out the filter in the discarded water rather than adding a new one..
Any ideas as to why and how I can stop it happening again.
I did wonder if I wasn't feeding them enough. They get one feed a day, which is all consumed with in 2 mins.
Any tips most appreciated

Becky, bloating does not occur from underfeeding. Have you used any flyspray in your room where the tank is? Did you put your hands in the water after using soap?
Otherwise, maybe the siamese fighter had some existing internal health problem. Fighters do not thrive on dry food, they like occasional rinsed bloodworm, their favourite is live mosquito larvae.
As for snails, they dont live that long - who knows. |

your fish will love the frozen foods when you do a water change make ure you only take out 25%.Fish like us quiet like little but often dont put to much food in as it will only rot and poison your fish. If you are new unfortunatly you will loose a lot of fish af first. you can over clean a tank. like i say 25% is enough. good luck when your tankmis fully mature you will love it. |
