Is a Malwi setup suitable for Ghost knife fish?
1. My tank has hard water and a high PH for the Malawi.
2. If the Ghost is suitable for the water, is it suitable to be in with the Malawi?
Cheers

Black ghost like soft acidis water. Approx 6.5 pH with peaceful tankmates that they cannot eat. They get to about 8" as adults so will snack on small tetra's.
They might find discus a bit boisterous but it would be worth a try, I have always kept them in tanks with quite a lot of tannin as they seem to come out more than in brightly lit clear set ups. (they are more or less nocturnal anyway) |

Wait untill they are bigger and pair off. But do note that I agree discus are peaceful, but big discus can be boisterous (big and active and dominate the tank) and through their weight around they can make it more difficult for shy fish to come out. And not allow much food to get down to the bottom, but once established I think the 2 species should be ok.
Hoplo's are great! |
