Could someone tell me 2 things.
1) How often do you clean the filters out. I have a 4ft marine tank.
2)Should the filter every now and again send out a cloud of fine bubbles into the tank. As mine does!

sounds like its clearing traped air! (airlock).......i have the old eheim clasic and it does that ! i Just give it a good shake!......you may have to switch it off then back on between shaking !!
sometimes it just sucks air within the propeller compartment........give it a shake
Dont keep marines so not sure on how often u have to clean !

if you have live rock in your tank as the main filter then you either need to remove the external or run it under tap water once a week to stop it becoming biologicly active otherwise it interferes with the live rock |

I dont agree with the comment by KOBISKYE, I think some power filtration is always beneficial, in case you get a system crash.
Sorry to go off topic slightly. |

Not sure if this is the right thing to do as a new user but I would like to know more detail expanding on the comments re. filtering.
I have an undergravel suction going through an Eheim and then through a chiller via low positioned spray bar back to my tank. I also have another Eheim suction in tank and then back to the tank with a spraybar via a UV lamp unit. I have quite a lot of live rock as well.
Any documentation or advice would be most welcomed.
Should I set up a new post? |
