I have a cichlid which is appx 9 inches long he has a brown coloured body that is covered in electric blue spots .and has the same shaped head as a midas but not so wide originally i thought he was a huge texas but the blue colour is to deep and the body is the wrong colour . does anybody know what this fish could be? |

i have a flower horn nige. and im pretty sure its not one of them.
Its blue flecks are more of a pattern which cover its whole body.
Yes danny i do have a couple of pics but you will have to escuse my photopraphic skills.

can anybody tell me how big texas cichlids grow . i have always believed they only grow to 6 or 7 inches |

its a really nice looking specimen could be one of these even.

As Danny says it is a Herichthys carpintis
This is the blue or green texas. will grow to 12" or even a bit bigger. is quite managable untill about 8". then can be a bit of a rouge - some specimens are great though.
This is not the true texas, blues are generally more common. lovely fish. |

paddy you are right about them being a rogue i have had to put him into a tank on his own . I tried him in with my big severums and all hell broke loose . he is in a partitiond 4 foot tank at the mo in my 400litre system, right next to my flower horn they are always staring each other out through the glass |

This looks very like a red sevrum we have 2 males and used to have 2 females but the males are v aggressive and killed our females. |

The asian breeders seem to like the colour red! There's a red jag cichlid available now. |
