finally found it! about 1.5". read in a book that some are good some are bad.Any advice on what i should do would be apprecitated. No deaths i can link with it but then again bristle worms eat everything that falls to the bottom (the vanashing cleaner shrimp). Cannot get a pic but its green/brown with a light patch on its back. I've got a blue star fish and worried if the shrimp grows anymore my decide to have a nibble. Makes a looud click when the lights go out so asuming its a pistol shrimp,or do any other shrimps make this noise too? |

Another shrimp that makes a clicking noise is the mantis shrimp if it is a mantis shrimps species be very careful with it they either have a barbed spear or a ball and they use these things at the speed of a bullet.
The spear one will hurt like hell and the ball one is know as a thumb splitter just imagine a marble hitting your finger tips at the speed of a bullet.
Either way rehoming in a sump is a very good idea I would suggest putting a piece of abs pipe into the sump as a hidey hole for the wee beast. |

well its definatley a mantis shrimp. Just sorted my sump out and he's moved house. Know he's there though lots of clicks followed by bits of bristle worm floating about. Set up a coke bottle trap hopefully get him soon. Spied him again about 2inches long now! |
