they do best in mod to bright light, why dont you try green star polyps (pachyclavularia spp) they do prefer bright light but can tolerate dimmly lit tanks if they are provided with supplemental foods , i kept a large colony of them in my old 5ft tank with 4xt8s 3/4 up the tank. |

i have xenia in a juwel vision 180 and have 2 25watt marine white and 1 25watt actinictic on my tank and the xenia had split into 3 already so your t8s should be fine

its about halfway in the tank about 10 inches from waterlevel but you have to move it a bit to see where it is most happy altough i had no problems from day one this is a differnt coral maybe i am lucky cant say

now for the bad news my sulpher reactor mulfunctioned through the night and i lost my anemone, urchin, hare and tang took me a week to get tank back to normal again and i still have my exiana but very poor and still struggle for survival so a sulpher reactor is risky for as soon as there is no flow you have a buildup off sulpheric acid that dissolve in your tank and deadly to invertabrea |

I recommend the eco system for your set up.
Sorry for your disaster I suffered a similar thing with a fluval canister filter it jammed at a guess for a day and restarted itself filling the tank with anaerobic crud nearly lost everything.
Neighbour thought I was nuts I disconnected the fluval canister from the system and spent an hour kicking it around the garden whilst wearing steel toe capped boots and holding on to the wire felt fantastic doing that to a fluval.
The only canister I have on my system now is an eheim classic and that is only used to run the UV it is totally empty although having said that I expect there is a huge colony of sponges in there. |

hi alan i was thinking about the ego system and will introduce it at some stage when finance are more readily availible altough i keep a close eye on my sulpher system now as my no2 and no3 tests are 100% so i reckon if you run it properly it is good but being nightshift this week i will see if i can build a alarmbusser for system when not sirculating it looks like the xenia is making it thist have to wait and see as you will see on photo it is all diy as it save you a fortune in reactors

I'm well up for DIY as it does save a lot of money so good on you for going for it. |
