I have a marine set up with Deltec skimmer and lot of live rock/corals. All has been fine for some time with me performing 10% water change weekly. However, only recently I am suffering from excessive algae. It seems to be covering the live rock and turning from Red to brown/green and is now even starting to grow on my corals - start polyps in particular. My phos is fine as too are my nitrates. Any advice would be welcome..
last time this was raised i had suffered with the same problem i asked the guy how old his test kits were , he replied nothing wrong with them , next day he put a thread up and said it was hes test kit , i also had that same problem which is why i asked, and now ask you . my old test kit showed 0 nitrates bought a new one and i was way above 75mgl.
Fair point - not sure how old mine are. However, I normally have the water tested at tmy stockist. I will take a sample to him soon.
Guess water change is the only safe way of getting nitrates down??
