yes you can it will remove algea spaws as well as certain bacteria that promotes white spot and other infections, the flow must be right through it though, to slow it has the reverse effect and to fast nothing at all.a 8w uv needs 725 lhr for a 180L tank 15w needs 1360 lhr for a 360L tank 25W 1820 lhr for 455L AND A 30W 2045 LHR FOR A 680L tank . hth, Richard. |

i am thinking of using it on my 7x2x2 ray tank with a sump what size should i use my flow rate is about 3000lph is it better placed before or after the sump |

with 3000lph you can go upto a 50w uv that will cope with 910L tank and yours is 794.85L. |

A uv clarifier is pointless on a freshwater indorr system at best they only kill algae nothing else hence their frequent use on ponds. However, if you actually mean you intend to use a UV sterilizer then yes it is well worth it but you must set up the flow rate accordingly go for the TMC vecton v2 range and over rate it for your system. This will ensure that parasites and bacteria are significantly inhibited although it will not eliminate them as you won't be treating anything that fails to go through the sterilizer. |
