good evening, i have been into cichlids for years and fortunate enough to have a 6x2x2 still available to stock - i have kept most of your bog-standard cichlids over the years
what are the more unusual cichlids are there that are available?
When i think about the fish i have kept over years (about 20 years to be precise) they seem quite "normal" if you catch me drift.......
what cichlids would you go for in hard water if you wanted to be different and have a 6x2x2 going begging, cheers

The correct spelling is peaceful not "pieceful".
Its abit dull dont you think?
What about some geo's or I know they aint really cichlids but peacock bass are wicked, also petenina splendida.
Both species are very bright and grow to 18"+ getting very tame. Could just add some peat to soften water slightly. |

Have you tried Benthochromis Tricoti they can get to 10 inches and are from Lake Tanganyika?
If you've not seen them they're like giant Paracyprichromis Nigripinnis.
Here's a good article on them: http://www.duboisi.com/articles/CCbenthotri.htm
and a piccy I found of a male....

you could try tetracanthus (nandopsis) or some real wild parrots (hoplarchus pssitacus) along with some vieja argentea.
here is a pic of the real wild parrot fish anyway.

That picky of polleni does not do these stunning fish justice being a 20 year veteran they have plenty to offer. Also look into Paratilapia bleekeri |
