i am having a nightmare with brown algea my tank is 6x2x2 it has 5 powrheads in it 1 deltec 600 skimmer 3 150 halides plenty of fiji living rock lights are on for 8 hours per day turn over of water is well adequate the tank is not over stocked with fish but has loads of corals it is driving me mad can anyone help please thanks john |

jc did you look at your other thread from yesterday ? when you say turn over is adequate what turn over is it? have you looked to see if test kits are old and giving you a false reading ? do you use a phos remover, how often do you do water changes? ro water used? TDS readings , if you can give as much info as poss we may be able to help. regards Richard |

yes i use a phos remover my test kit is ok to 4 month old i do water change every week and top up every day cheers trik |

do u use ro water with a di unit? or tap water for your top up , if so what salt are you using. |

i use water that has been dechlorinated and left for one week with an air stone in the salt i use is red sea |

not a marine expert but why leave the water for one week with an airstone? whats the be gained?
also, five powerheads? is this really necessary? Or does it have to be this way for marine |

How long are your lights on? I found i had mine on too long and i started getting allot of brown alge. Now I have blues on for 9 hrs and whites for 6 hours. Even then that may be too long some would say. |

Top up water is your problem the only water that should be used for top up water is RO water equally when mixing salt water again RO water is the only water to use also see the info requested on your identical thread to this one. |
