White Spot Confusion |

I bought my fancy goldfish last week and when I got home from work today it appeared to have whitespot on its tail and two hours later it has gone. Does this mean it has fallen off and will breed again? How long have I got until it hatches? |

Leanna white spot will depart from the body and then multiply ...
are you treating with medication ?...
i would think the white spot does not leave the fish all at the same time ........so there should still be signs on the fish
give us some more information

No medication at the mo as I got home at 6pm and no shops are open in my area, I'm going to have to wait until tomorrow. On the caudal fin is black and there is a white/grey mark where the white spot was. |

It was in three different patches over the fin, each patch containing approx. 7 spots. |

the fact you say 1 white spot! makes me think when i got our goldfish
some of them had a white mark/spot half way up the front of the caudal fin........i gave it a few days and it went .....didnt use any medication ..
think its more like a stress mark!!!........and if it was there when you bought it a week ago then i would just watch them closley

Update.... this morning there are some small white spots back exactly the same patches on the fins. I have noticed that from underneath the patches look red. |

might be blisters leanne, are they very small salt grain or smaller size? if bigger with red in or around more likely to be blisters! fancies suffer from this alot especially on fins cut down on feeds,do water changes twice a week and add a general anticeptic med + all should be ok![hopefully] |

not heard of blisters myself but go with telboys advice.....
how about going back to the shop you got it from to see if the other fish they have also have these spots? if they do! then you know the fish you bought wasnt 100%healthy.
is the fish alone or with other fish?.....allways good if it could be seperated ,I use a clear plastic 15 litre storage tub....small filter and airstone.....usefull being only 15 litres uses only small quantity of medication and easy to calculate the doseage

Thanks for the advice guys... from looking at the fish a bit more closely, they look suspiciously like blisters. I've taken the advice and added a anticeptic med. I'll keep you informed of the progress. |
