is it possible to use metal halides that are used around the house ( outside ). I have seen some that are 400w and i was wondering ? |

not to sure if you can spectium (sp) wise but they would be fine.
are they 400w or are they about 200w?
because 75 w lights give out 150w of white light
150w lights give out 300w of white light |

It said 400w so if i could get 400w bulbs what spectrum would i need the more blue look the better ( but not too blue )

well mate mine have gone up but due water change but my lfs and someone else said to add more live rock and it will do it so think it will i only need another 10kg |

SO DOES ANYONE USE A DIFFERENT TYPR OF HALIDES OTHER THAN THE ONES FROM YOUR FS ? I CURRENTLY HAVE 150W AND NEED AN UPGRADE |

forget about using outside halides for your tank its not the right lumines and colours and the endresult will be a tank full off algae and that display a yellow colour believe me a lot tried it due to costs but it doesnt work ,you cant just add 10kgs off liverock to a tank thats already established as your nitrates and ammonia gonna go through the roof once your tank is going with liverock and fish you should not place more than 2 kgs off liverock with your tank the average is 2kgs off liverock for every 20liters off water |
