to clean em out you only change part of the media at a time so's not to lose all bacteria |

i dont change ceramic circles thats all i got in the filter...dint think u needed to change them. trouble is to clean the foam out i tip the media in a bucket clean the foam put it all back in and there u go...oh bit of wool at the top as well and thats it. how do u do yours |

steve, thats why i run 2 externals, so i can alternate cleaning.
i have found the fx5 to be a reliable filter - never faulted at all. |

yea hello m8 i did have 2 wet an dry ehimes but thay were for ever going wrong sticking and humming buzzing. untill one just stop.so i went for the fx5 ...only had it 3 weeks well just over..i like it and no noise. but cant see how u can clean the foam in it without taking the baskets out and killing bacteria?? i might do as u and get 2 ..shes going to love this...lol more money |

As long as you clean it in some tank water most of the bacteria will be fine

yea thats what i did.. tank water in bucket ..2 baskets out clean them in the bucket. clean the last basket in the filter not moveing it out to save bacteria ..as u can get to that foam without taking out ...all back in, and give it a day or 2 brown algae as if running in again.seems bad design for marine. |
