A large external canister filter. A aquapro 4 should work. |

For the fish your keeping paul, it is a must to have a huge filter to avoid any probs. Its all about filter volume here and not flow rate. Take no notice of what they say their rated to as that is not for big messy fish like you keep.
Minimum of a eheim pro 3 (wicked), eheim 2250 or 2260 bucket filter which i use (huge), or if you must go fluval though i dont advise it then a fx5 would be a minimum.
Put it this way I use a eheim bucket which is rated to 1000 litres on my 370 litre and this just about copes.
Dont cut corners with filters as your get poss problems and unhappy fish. Its nice not having to worry about overfeeding when you have something that can cope with the waste.
Hope this helps, other people will have different veiws but I beleive this is by far the best method. |

This would be ideal, rated to 1500 litres. (eheim dont over rate their filters like fluval-if this was made by fluval their rate it to over 2000 litres).
Look them up,

Just what you need, biggest externals on the market designed for messy fish and tankbusters like ours.
You could use your tank as a toilet and it'll still take it out.
1900 lites per hour flow rate, do a serch under eheim classic 2260 bucket filter for more info.
Ive got 2 of the slightly smaller 2250s but only use the one. Simple design means nothing really to go wrong.
Alan from this site is a great fan of these like me. |
