if you have just done a water change it is a difference in the ph what causes it.
it is nothing to worry about but still watch the fish in case it gets worse |

Steve, what water are u using with water changes?
RO or Treated tap water? I keep discus myself and with water changes (dont have an RO unit) i fill a 5Gal drum with tap water, i add haolex which removes metals and chlorine, the i lower an air driven filter box into the barrel stuffed with Peat Extract and filter over this for 24hours, my tap water PH is 7.2, But my breeder (who i got the discus off) runs his systems at PH 7, so i lower the PH in the barrel with peat over 24 hours, then i do my changes...
I'm thinking that if your using treated tap water which hasn't been out of the tap long the PH is radically changing up and down...Which is causing cloud eye...
Let me know what ur using mate, if you are using RO then its none of the above and will have to have a re-think! |

It can be diet related as well you often see cloudy eyes on catfish especially pangasius if the diet is wrong.
Also make sure the filters are clean as a build up of detritus in the filters can cause an increase in unwanted bacteria and fungus within a tank that can lead to problems such as this in otherwise healthy fish.
I have a fish that lets me know when the filters are clogging by moving his gills rapidly every so often the filters are not particularly dirty when he does this certainly they don't have enough detritus to be of concern but when I clean out the filters he stops doing this. Having said that the fish is recognised as a filter feeding planktivore although it will eat other stuff so it may actually be filter feeding on suspended matter in the tank. Either way its worth checking your filters to make sure all is running spot on. |

hi ryan i've got no problem i was suggesting to dave what it might be. i use treated water straight out the hot tap then left to cool to room temp and have never had any problems. my ph always ers on the low side as it is a planted tank 6.4-6.6
i have bred and raised young in a community tank |
