you have a red led light on a seperate box, when this goes out the bulb needs replacing, good uv for the cheap price but your better off spending a bit more and getting a better make like vecton

You sure its not 9 watt instead of 9 volt it would need one hell of a transformer if its 9 volt. Any to check running costs establish the wattage and that gives you the power consumption for every hour it is running so multiply the wattage by 24 to give you the number of watts per day then get hold of your lecky bill and work it out based on the cost of a unit of lecky.

Never used one of these particular ones myself are these the ones that look very much like an internal filter I have been considering getting an internal UV sterilizer for my trop tank but haven't been able to locate one I do know they exist though.

UV sterilizers are much of a muchness really they basically have to have the correct flow rate to ensure the correct level of exposure all sterilizers are as good as the accuracy of the flow rate is to fast and they do little more than nothing to slow every thing that goes through it gets vapourised.

As far as improving water clarity they do this by producing a small amount of ozone that will oxidise the waste which is normally visible as a slight yellowing of the water hence the water clarity is improved.
