Today i've noticed that my 100 gallon tank was getting dirtyer. And the internal and external filters weren't working right. There was just a trickle coming out. So i've clean the internal and it's working right now but because i got the external filter second hand with the tank i don't know how to empty all the water out before opening it. Does anybody know? It a fluval 304. |

304 is way too small for a start and will block. Even a 404 is way too small in my veiw. |

Bruce, you could do with 2 externals on that size tank, that way you can maintain one at a time
I run 2 on a 75 gallon |

mate has the fluval 304 not got a flow control on it like the 405??? if so push it all the way up and it stops the water for you. |

just looked the fluval 304 has the flow control! push the black lever all the way up, pull up the silver lever.
then the pipes disconect from the unit and the flow is totaly stoped.
then open up the unit and no water will come out of it. |
