right linda, salinity will normally only go up from avaperation(god my spelling is poo)the only way it would go down so rapid is if the tank water is getting colder, or your new mixed water is mixed with warmer water which will make the sg hihger, out of interest what salt are you using.and what temp is the tank .

What are you measuring the salinity with if it is a hydrometer stick it in the bin and buy a refractometer hydrometers are worse than poo!

The only way salinity could be dropping is if it is being diluted with fresh water otherwise the salinity will remain stable or increase due to evaporation.

The only other conclusion is there is something in the tank causing the salt to precipitate out of the water are you using the correct sort of media in the filters?
