hi can anyone advise, having lowered the ph in order to get a pair to breed. at what stage after the fry are free swimming is it safe to begin to raise the ph back to our areas tap water (7.4)i know in an ideal it would be better to keep it where it is,but dont have easy access to ro water

once the fry are away from the parents you should start to increase the hardness, very slowly, the ph will rise accordingly, they will do much better in harder water than the soft spawning water the parents need. One thing though what is the hardness of the water they are in now, this is what you need to concentrate on as the KH will automatically raise the PH

My breeder holds fry in a PH of 7.2, as soon as there free swimming he moves them into a lower tank!
