i wouldnt as the water requirements are differant
kribensis require 8-12DGH and ph of 6.5 they also like a heavilly planted tank
mbunas in general require 12-18DGH and ph8.2 though anything over 7.5 is acceptable.

with respect Keith, Kribs do not "require" a pH of 6.5, but you are right about it in general, Kribs and Mbuna isnt a combination that springs to mind!!! HOWEVER, Kribs can be happy in a higher pH (up to about 8.0 in my opinion) and dont necessarily need plants, so they could live with certain Mbuna, it might upset the purists, but i certainly wouldnt say they are not compatible under any circumstances. Not you Keith, but this forum can sometimes get a bit carried away with "this fish cant be this fish" |

We've currently got a 38x18x14 tank housing a load of different fry we're growing on:
10 Red Bellied Kribs
10 Acei Yellow Tail
2 Daffodil Brichardi
2 Julidichromis Transcriptus Gombi
4 Pundamillia Nyereri
6 Placidochromis Phenochilus
4 Yellow Ancistrus
& 12 Altolamprologus Compreciceps
All the fish are young with the largest being about an inch, all get on well with no fighting whatsoever and none seem bothered by any of the other species.
Obviously as they get older and larger we'll move them out (especially the Brichardi) but for now they're fine.
The Kribs and Acei's also seem to hang around in different parts of the tank so don't bother with each other at all.
As for the Kribs liking a heavily planted tank - we have some java moss in there and they never go near it?? |
