hi ... i have decided to go for metal halide now but i cant afford for get one of them poshed up units which cost hundreds.. so can i use a garden light unit which take metal halide buls if i brought a marine bulb suitable for the unit ? |

no it wont work as your metalhalide is 10 000 limunes or more and in reality it pull more power than 150watt as i 150watt halide draw in the region of 210watt so willhave to get hold off a electronic ballst that can handle the output off a metal halide bulb |

no the unit im thinking of using is only 70w so was going to stick a 70 marine bulb in ? |

hi i listed to halid lights on site both arcadia 150 watt each and both working need a bit of tidy £30.00 for both and they are white |

yes will work fine i have an indusrial unit over my marine tank just change the bulb for higher k value it will make no difference to power consumption, just ensure its same wattage as the unit is made for. mine with changing bulb cost me anot £90 in total. |

I have 2 modified shop spot lights both 150 watt with the TMC 50,000k bulbs in them no problem.
If you are not confident with the electric of this go on the marine lighting link on the left and look at the aquabays. |
