Ok this is to those who keep or have kept Discus! What breed/strain do you recommend for a first time-er? i have been looking at getting 5 fish 2 inch - 3 inch size (50mm-75mm) thanks. |

Am i right in thinking the more striking fish say snakeskin's strain are more sensative?

Usually the 9 bar fishes are stronger than the 14 bar fishes. So i would recommend leopards, turks, pigeon based fishes like melons, golden pigeon etc.

for god sake dont listen to the fellar who is selling discus on ebay as he says that you can put discus in with angel fish.
People who keep discus should know that the Angel fish carry a worm that kills the discus. |

just to clear up the previous comment.Wild angels are a problem with discus but the majority of angels available through lfs are captive bred and therefore "clean". Ask the manager where the angels have come from. I added discus to my angel set up and have had no trouble in 12 months. Experienced discus keepers will know this. |
