when adding sand to a bbrand mnew aquriaum can you add it after the water? does the water have to have salt added for the sand to be ok? what sand is the best to get? many thanks

doesnt matter really unless its livesand,then it needs to be added as late as poss with the live rock

its easier to put the sand in the tank then add the water afterwards. some people use a plate to pour the water on to to save the water mixing up the sand.

if i mix the salt with the water in the tank with the sand will this be ok as it is live sand

sounds like from what mikk says you need to mix the salty and water then add the sand, i dont keep marine but thats how it seems to me. can our marine experts confirm for ross?
