there was an advert on here sometime ago (only about a week ago) can find it now was for a "breeding trio of Red Devils". is this possible? Has anyone heard of a breeding "trio" of Red Devils or any other American / South American Cichlids

Never heard of a trio of RD's but I used to own a breeding trio of salvinis in a 55gal. He would spawn with one female, then after fry had been removed he would breed with the other. That lasted just over a year until the females decided they didn't like each other.

There are lots of south americans that wil; naturally form trios - several of the maternal mouthbrooding species do this in the wild. But it is very rare for central american (pair forming substrate/cave spawners) to do this. But as curviceps said it does happen ocassionally.
