A 6x2x2 holds 150 imp gallons of water which equates to 681 litres so the water alone amounts to 680 kilos plus glass and cabint you are likely to be over 3/4 of a tonnes dependent on what the cabinet is made of chipboard or wood.
Concrete floor is a must. |

concrete floor isnt a must as long as the suporting joists run in the right direction spreading the weight across them not along them
i have had a 8x2x2 on a wooden floor for over 10 years with no problems |

It depends how the joists fit to the wall if they are going into the wall you should get away with it but if metal joist hangers are used I would certainly not risk it.
I know someone that had a reef tank upstairs with metal joist hangers supporting the joists after all his colleagues at an engineering firm suggested he got a structural engineer in to take a look he did and the engineer in his opinion felt the tank should be emptied immediately. |
