how big is the tank? how much do you want to spend ?, without sounding nasty , marine isnt for the faint hearted , you need to invest a bit of cash , and if you have any problems then you need more cash to fix it and its no cheap , let me know a price and ill keep an eye out , where in the country are you? |

IF YOUR THINKING OF KEEPING A ANEMONE THEN YOU NEED A HALIDE IF YOU JUST WANT SOFTIES THEY WILL DO FINE UNDER 3 X T8 BULBS OR 2 X T5 BULBS , T5S GIVE CORALS AND FISH A BETTER COLOUR |

Flood light often use a cheap ballast that does not have a thermal cut out so if they get to hot they just keep getting hotter until they catch fire. Of note is the fact the bulbs can get to 400 oC hence serious fire risk if you get it wrong.
Having said that if you find a flood light with the appropriate sodium ballast not mercury with a thermal cut out it should be fine alternatively go on the marine lighting link on this sight and take a look at the aquabay units. These are cheap as chips and do the job very well.
Get the right equipment first time round don't rush it a rushed marine tank is a real head ache. |
