Saw 2 of these yesterday, only about 6 to 7 inches, in an aquarium. Guy in the shop said that in a tank they would only grow to 2 foot but in the wild, 10 foot. Don't think that lfs should sell fish that get that large. He said you could put them in a pond. Price was £79 for the pair. |

No leave it, if it can get to 10 in the wild it will probably get a bit bigger than 2 foot anyway. |

As a general warning be careful when buying coldwater fish like these. As they many need a Licence to keep them.
Paddlefish will require the shop to have a licence to keep them. Regarding the customer - they may be covered by a general licence, or you may have to apply for a licence from Defra - Check it out beforehand.
Regarding length -I have never seen a really big one - but 3 foot or so is quite common and they are big fat fish, needing lots of swimming space - they rarely survive for long in captivity as the need cool temps and they are filterfeeders, so they need lots of daphnia and similar food. |

Seriously email practical fishkeeping give them a tip off they might name and shame the shop or at least include in the new imports they do in each mag and highlight the stupidity in keeping such fish.
They are challenging to feed because they are filter feeders just imagine the mamount of brine shrimp you would have to feed it. |
