17:29 by Linda Chenapa
Looks great.

But where is the radiator? Without that paul won't like it

Seriously, what backing are you going to put on it and what fish are going in there?
29-01-2007
17:41 by saz
The base is made from timber but is concreted below the floor and its attached to the walls, im putting in it silver arowana, fire eel, 3 silver dollars, 2 birchir, 2 plecs, syno, 3 clown loach and 2 limas, we hoping to get another arowana later on. We want that 3D background but cant afford at moment so think for now we just going to get a plain blue backing sheet.
Thanks everyone for your comments

29-01-2007
18:07 by saz
Never kept marine before, that is something we will give a go eventually
29-01-2007
18:28 by darren
Looking awesome Sazzy, that tetratec will never filter it though
29-01-2007
18:33 by saz

18:56 by Jake Casson
The 2260 is bigger and the one to go for, how big is the tank?
29-01-2007
19:04 by trik
JAKE THE PRO3 is the flag ship for eheim as far as a tank safe canister filter goes for the tank, yes they do a larger bucket filter for ponds but not tanks, correct me if im wrong please.
29-01-2007
19:09 by Jake Casson
Well you are wrong, the buckets are the biggest filter on the market and are for tanks. Pro3 is a wicked filter but doesnt have the media volume like the 2250 and 2260. I tank that size needs all the over filtration it can get, when keeping big messy fish.

pro3 is still a top piece of kit and better than any FX5 etc
29-01-2007
19:12 by trik
cool , as i said correct me if im wrong, i thought the buckets had metal working parts in them as in the pump, How wrong was i , roll eyes
29-01-2007
20:06 by saz
Ok

Will 2 300w heaters be enough to heat it
29-01-2007
20:50 by woody007
Great looking tank sazzy are you on a water meter??
29-01-2007
20:57 by saz
Luckily....no!
30-01-2007
00:28 by paul stevens
I think that tank looks cheap and it would be a shame to see such a great looking fish like a green arowana swiming around in that...
30-01-2007
00:29 by paul stevens
Plus its got black tape all over it..
30-01-2007
10:09 by saz
30-01-2007
10:14 by saz
You just wait til its finished, you'l be on your knees beggin me to take your green aro
30-01-2007
10:52 by Jake Casson
What size is it? Could look at getting a external inline heater.
30-01-2007
10:56 by saz
Its 8x30x24
30-01-2007
10:59 by saz
Whats an inline heate jake and how do they work, im really hoping to get away with 2 heaters for the moment as finances aint too good now
30-01-2007
11:31 by Jake Casson
Its exactly that-could go on your feed to or from the filter.

i think 3 300ws may be best if the room gets cold in winter-if not then 2 should suffice.

I have a 7x30x24 and have 2 2250s going on it, i dont think 1 2260 would be enough if your planning on adding more fish-big fish need big filtration.
30-01-2007
11:33 by Jake Casson
How much did the tank cost to get built at home and who done it please?
30-01-2007
11:54 by saz
Thanks jake, tank cost 341 and it is being done by chapeltown glass which is a local glass company in sheffield, the guy who is building it is a fishkeeper himself and builds all his own tanks
30-01-2007
12:00 by saz
Until we can afford a better filter we will be running a tetratec ex1200 and an aqua vital internal filter which pumps 2300 litres hour
30-01-2007
12:03 by AndreaC
That is a great looking tank sazzy. Wow cant get over how big it is. Cant wait to see pictures of it set up and fish in
30-01-2007
12:04 by Jake Casson
nice. You should rehome a Mbu puffer when all the recently sold ones get to big for there present owners-thats about the min they can live and their wicked fish. Dog tame.

Good luck, big tanks can be very stressful, always remember to well over filter it, 2 2260 for sure I think.
30-01-2007
12:05 by Nick G
Amazin looking tank Sazzy, what size is the volume in litres and how much has this project put you out??

Looks great, you must both be well made up
30-01-2007
12:07 by saz
Thanks, none of my fish are anywhere near fully grown so they should be ok for a bit, i always thought puffers were aggresive
30-01-2007
12:17 by saz
Yes i am well pleased with it, im not sure exactly about litres though think its roughly 270 gallon but i might be wrong on that one, up to now its cost roughly 600 hence the being skint bit lol
30-01-2007
12:21 by Jake Casson
Yeah without working it out its prob 1200 litres. I have a mbu with loads of stuff inc a stingray, knife fish and fire eel
30-01-2007
15:22 by netty d
sazzy, for future ref' incase you need to add any treatments, the tank is 250 gals not allowing for displacement due to gravel etc.
30-01-2007
15:39 by saz
Thanks for that info netty
