one of 2 reasons you ither didnt have any polystrene under or it wasnt thick enough needs to be at least 1" thick or you unit was really was really uneven , or it maybe2 units your using , or maybe a rock fell? |

The tank was perfectly level i checkedit with a spirit level. funny the end that went only had bogwood in it. it had been running for six months , usually if they are uneven they crack over the first couple of days , its a mistery |

I think my oscars were throwing pebbles at each other lol

Sorry to hear about your tank. Mine did the same thing before christmas. I went to Wharf the other day and chatted with Richard and said it was due to not enough polystrene like wayne said make it thick!! |

did you know that one grain of sand under a tank without any padding will crack the tank everytime? thats why its so important t have a good base ie polystyrene or kingspan or a soft timber that can absord any imperfections |
08-02-2007 23:02 by Ste
|
My tanks has soft pine supports under it all of my big ones have ,I ahve had takns off and on for 30years ever since i was a kid
and never ever has one split on me.This tank has been running for about 5 months with no problems, then all of a sudden as i said before it just cracked, for no apparent reason |

the main base of the unit it stands on is a 15ft concrete construction cemented to a concrete floor on top of this there are white pine slats at 12inch intervals then there is a 4x2x2 and a 5x2x2 that have been sitting next to the 6x2x2 for five months also.
