Hi all, I am due to replace the bulbs in my Weipro MH unit, and i am considering using 20K bulbs.
I just wondered what the general concensus of opinion was on their suitability.. versus 10K and 14K.
They are not cheap, so i thought i'd ask all of you first.
Thanks,
Mark H.

20,000 K are a very blue bulb ideal for deeper tanks( over 2ft) i use 14,000k myself i think they look the best as the look white , and i use actinics for the blue ness and bringing out the luminous in corals , its down to your own personal preference 10,000ks are to yellow i think most peeps with hard corals tend to go 20,000k and so even go to extremes using 50,000, |

Thanks Wayne, I have previously used 14k MH, and i agree they are a great balance,My tank is just over 2 feet deep and i wondered if the corals needed a hotter 20k bulb or not. I have read that they are good for accelerated coral/craline growth etc..

20,000k coralvues are good for coraline algae , but coraline caqn strangle other corals (ime) go 14,000k, i would say |

Hi, I don't know anything about marine setups but your tank looks great, if its not broke don't fix it.I would love a setup like that. |

Rob, good point...i am thinking it maybe best to stick with the 14k Mh,unless someone can offer another point of view that is...maybe one 14k and a 20k? I dunno..just another cross road i guess..lol
Thanks for the compliment matey. (nature makes it look great,i rekon i just provide the light, salt and water!!...lol) |
