Bicolor Angel with a death wish |
12-02-2007 16:38 by yanton

Anyone else had this? My 3" bicolor angel seems to get thrill from trying to snatch food out of my large carpet anenome.
even when the same food is available elsewhere (krill, mussel, etc) he prefers to try and snatch it from the carpet anenome. he seems to like geting as close as he can without getting stung, playing 'chicken' with the carpet anenome. |

Linda, I'm taking on your idea and setting up a new 6ft marine tank with a bare bottom which should help keep it much cleaner.
I'm going to use it for larger marine fish, as the main occupant is my 'ugly yet handsome' anglerfish which is bright orange and will eat anything not large enough.

the anglerfish is fascinating when hunting, the vibrates his lure to try and attract a fish. amazing fish!

nice to have a nice display of nature in your living room! |
12-02-2007 17:28 by yanton
|
i have 2 gravel-sifting gobies, they are cave digging - trying to undermine the whole display. |

|
lighting is by arcadia lumiare with 4 T5 white tubes. filtration is by 2 externals (eheim and fluval fx5). skimmer is mounted within the aquarium - the rockwork is built around it. |

Lovely tank Yanton, that Caulerpa looks great, i cant grow it it my tank as the tangs go at it like "pigs at strawberries"!!lol.
I have a nasty feeling that the Bi colour is gonna meet a vicious end if it keeps on winding up your anenomies tho.
Theres a pic of my tank on the Metal Halide thread if you fancy a look..
Cheers
Mark

My latest aquisition: a bright red crinoid feather star (Himerometra robustipinna). The picture doesn't bring out the startling colour.

notice the foot of my gereen carpet anenome, it has rooted itself deep in the gravel - I have no chance of moving it now - frustrating as it is facing the wrong way! It is great fun feeding him. The surface is extremely sticky.

also got a nice maroon clown, in hopes he will settle into my redfoot bubble anenome.

and finally for today, this shot shows the skimmer collection cup popping out of the top, above the luminair lighting (which is fitted flush instead of upon the legs, to give higher spec light to the caulerpa). The skimmer is housed inside the tank with rocks around it. works superb.

couldn't resist adding this one, my orange anglerfish hiding in some caulerpa (a different tank) waiting for some tasty morsel. It's amazing when he starts fishing a waving around his lure. couldn't get a close-up.
