How much money do you have to throw at this. Reef is now easier than fish only too.
Rough outline of requirements for a marine tank.
Skimmer rated to twice the size of the tank. £90-200 depending on make.
Live rock 1 kilo for every 2 imp gallons as a minimum. About £9.50 per kilo.
Refractometer for measuring salinity. £40
Bucket of salt TMC pro reef £59.99 this will make up to 200 gallons of water much cheaper to buy in bulk.
2 identical buckets big enough to carry out a water change one will be for mixing salt water the other will be for siphoning water into using identical buckets makes it easier to remove and replace identical quantities of water this aids salinity stability.
RO unit £100-150 dependent on size needed for a nano a 50 gpd unit would do.
Heater
Lighting T5's would be sufficient for a nano.
Pumps to circulate the water volume at least 20 times per hour.
That should give you an idea of costs involved. Take a look at the www.stm-shop.co.uk site to get an idea of nano stuff. Look under wave these are as cheap as you will get. |

How big is this tank it also sound like you have a lot of stuff already and chucking the hermits in means it ain't a fish only set up.
Also buy a good book and research for at least a month before jumping into this. |

If you can't bank roll it yourself I'm not surprised your dad said no marine isn't cheap at the best of times. |
