This is driving me up the wall .. everyoneis telling me diffrent things .. The problem i currently have is that in my marine tank my live rock is growing green alge and my glass is growing brown alge . i have been told it is my phosphates but i have checked and they are very near zero .. I do not have much water flow, only from my trigon 350 filter outlet which is 1000 g.ph and a 104 filter .. i can not seem to get to the bottom of this.. also this is currently a fish only setup . and my water temp at this time is 28 .. is to high ? is this the problem .. i do not have a skimmer as of yet as corals are not a option unitl i ahve sorted this problem out ..
finally .. i saw this lovely green grass type weed in EDs nano what is it called and were can i get it ?

all i can think of doing is adding more powerheads getting some phosphate remover and a decent skimmer .. would you agree |

|
skimmer is a must espically if you have fish in thier , all the waste and all the food waste the skimmer would remove that |

What is your nitrate level and what is in the juwel filter.
algae do not just feed on phosphate and nitrate they can also get their food from disolved organics I think they call it gilvin it causes a slight yellowing of the water to test for this get a white plate and half submerge it if you have an organics problem the submerged part will look yellow. One thing to be aware of the usual blue end lighting hides the yellowing of the water so do this with the blue lights out.
One other thing is the lack of water turnover will cause detritus to deposit over everything you need a turnover rate of at least 20 x tank volume per hour.
Also can you confirm you are using RO water if your not this is your problem one other thing even though your test kit is not picking up phosphate it doesn't mean it is not there a level of 0.02 ppm is enough to cause an algal bloom. How many test kits get this low? |
