Just wondered if anyone knew if Oscars were more susceptable to whitespot and what to do if they are as i have done a full course of treatment and all the other fish in the tank are recovering except oscar who looks worse.
Also in the same tank i have a plec who never showed any signs of whitespot is that normal.

in my experience oscars are hardy fish. ive never seen one with white spot.

can i ask how often you are changing your water in the tank and how much you change each time?

Dannyboy i have just moved oscar(2") severum(4")Severumx2(1")T-bar(3") and plec from a 4ft tank into a 6ftx18x18 tank in the process all of the water from the 4ft tank was used as was the old internal filter along with new external filter.
In total the tank has only been running for 10 days and white spot only became evident on day 4 the day after i added a flowerhorn(1").
who the day after adding showed white spots, which is when i began treatment.
As for water changes in the tank i did my first tonight(day 10) 30%.
normal routine is 25% every 5 days, however in this case i left it until i had completed the teatment.

mr t bar ,i would do a good water change then start the treatment again, rememering to remove any carbon from your filters they will come right in the end, with a tank that size and such small fish there is no need to do water change weekly ,every 2 weeks will be fine untill they attain a good size

You could also raise the temp to 30c as whitespot cannot survive at this temp. Your oscars will be fine as long as you adjust the temp gradually and have massive amount of aeration. Hold the temp for about 4 days and this will wipe out all whitespot in the tank, not only the visible outbreak. I have used this method with an oscar I had some time ago and everything went well. Hope this helps
