With out actualy testing the water you cant really tell whats wrong. Some tanks can look to have excellent crystal clear water but the amonia or nitrites etc.. could be very high. Id test your water 1st then members can go on from there.
Can you describe the creamy colouring more, does it look like a coating over him?? |

Check nitrate nitrite also check ph and alkalinity.
Damsel are tough marine fish so it is unusual for one to be off colour do you have any other fish in the tank?
Also what is a large black neon damsel? |

He is still going this morning.Readings were up a little, he has 2 lagre hermit crabs for company in a 4ft tank they look ok, its is his colour that has changed no coating on him, I will try and do a bit of water change to see if that helps. he was brought as a neon damsel [ neoglyphidodon oxyodon] an inch long now he is 6 inchs a big chap and very aggresive you do'nt mess with him, |

How long have you had him could be old age setting in. Also it could just be his colours are beginning to fade with age I think this is common in Damsels.
I have done a search on the fish in question I know exactly the fish you are talking about now evil b u g g e r s. |
