Was in the lfs today talking to the owner about the puffer they had which was about 5 inches in size. and I asked what could be put in with them to pick up the scrapes on the bottom of the tank, he was not sure what would go in with it, i thought a extra large hermit crab would be ok, thet would be much to big for the puffer to have. Anybody got a puffer and could you keep a crab with it. |

I don't know, the puffer could crack open the crabs shell as it gets bigger, they've got very strong and powerfull teeth. |

Some of these xl crabs have got strong shells and the puffers mouth is not that big, the crabs i mean are the really big hermits you see with the big 2 inch shells |

The short answer is NO! Our puffer is about 8 - 9 inches and he will eat what ever he can get in it's mouth, including 7 green chromies, 1 clarkes clown. They can take your finger off with one bite so I'm sure that a crab would be no problem! |

better keep tuck away from him then  and lindas right they will munch then sooner or later just a matter of time |
