just now i noticed one of my brothers orandas has got dropsy. it suffered from whitespot not long ago but i want to know if its curable or if the fish will die. are there any treatments that work or is it a goner. please help as its a beautiful fish that we realy dont want to die. help please

u can get treatments for it from fish shops. not sure if they work but worth a shot |

i have a friend who's large koi add dropsy he took it to a vet who specalises in fish he prescribed a antibiotic fish food which worked but was expensive,hope it survives |

Sadly not all cases of dropsy are cured.
Place the fish in a separate tank with some tonic salt added to the water. About a tablespoon per gallon. The main reason for fish dying is influx of water retention. If the water has extra salt in it it helps the fish with osmotic balance. You'll remember the John Barns advert for lucozade - 'isotonic' in balance with your body Anti-internal bacteria might be useful as a madication. Vets would only inject larger fish, usually with Baytril. Ciprofoxacin is available in USA but not here. Fingers crossed |
