I have been treating my large damsel for 10 days now for cloudy eye, which he got when i had a amonnia and nitrate problem and had to move him into a new tank,he has settled down well and is feeding without any problems. Is it going to clear, do i keep giving medication[melafix] or is this now a problem he has to live with, i do not think he can see anything out of that eye |

Hiya Larry,
In my experience it should have cleared by now, if it hasn't then i dont think the medication is good enough, it may clear on it's own but by the sound of it you may have to try another treatment. I used Myxazin which i found to be very effective.

What are you feeding him you may be better of getting seafood mix from your local supermarket and chucking it all in a blender and then putting it into an ice cube tray and then defrost a cube in your fridge and feed it half of the cube once defrosted or less dependent on size of the damsel. This will be far more nutritious than artemia would be if that is what you are feeding.
Also I would have opted for keeping the tank water at its best possible condition and the fish should come right itself.
Treatment is a last resort. |
