Max the calcium and the alk go for an alkalinity of 4-5 meq/l and a calcium of 450-500ppm

Also get rid off all phosphate as this inhibits the growth of coralline algae and you need lots of light too.

Personally I use seachem as it is easy to use and does what it says on the tin in terms of how much a teaspoon will raise alk or calc. Have used Kent but to be honest I wasn't that impressed.

However the best way to do it is to use a 2 part additive that will enable calc and alk to be increased together maintaining the appropriate calc alk balance.
