Can anyone help. I have a large pond goldfish who has been part of the family for 15years. Two years ago it started to develop lumps along one side and these increased in number and size. The fish appears otherwise well - feeds, swims socialises with the other fish, etc. Now two of these lumps have burst and look awful. I am bathing it in salts everyday to reduce infection. But what is it. There are no signs of a parasite and it is only on one side. Also, none of the other fish are affected. |

Some old goldfish can develope benign tumours.
As you stated these have been growing over two years, so stands to reason they are benign. The the fish has probably become infected with a bacterial agent.
The only way to check is to get VET to take a biopsy of the underlying muscle tissue.
This could be expensive, so best to separate as the others suggested with tonic salt and anti-bacterial treatment |

definetly an internal bacterial infection. of tumours that have been damaged. buy a 36 inchn tank and filter and use it as a hospital tank for the fish. buy a remedy SOON that treats the bacterial probelm. i suggest the interpet no 9 as i have used it before and it is affective. hope the fish pulls through |
