thinking of getting a puffer, do they live in tropical waters so just a standard tropical setup needed?? how big can they get and what do they eat

Depends what type,most are aggressive,i have kept the mbu,nile and fugu for many years until last year and sold to concentrate just on my marines,these puffers grow large 12 inch onwards,there are other small species aswell also alot are brackish water long term,so check first,pufferfish forum is good for info.Hope this helps.

If you are looking more for a community puffer (if there is such a thing) try a South American Puffer (SAP). They don't get too big (2"-3") and do not nede brackish water. The only problem is their teeth which unless fed lots of snails will need trimming.
