Had these for a while now and theyve just had their fourth set of fry whilst ive had them, only difference is, this time its a community tank, theyve took over half of the tank and wont let anything near, all the fry a free swimming and i noticed them around 3days ago, at the time i didnt think anything of it because i thought that they would all get ate pretty quick, the question im asking is, is their any chance of them making it on their own in the tank or should i mess around netting them? p.s all the other fish in the tank are young and around the one inch mark but could still manage to eat the fry
i would think the other Bricardi would leave them alown, the thing i would be thinking is when they start wanting the whole tank they will kill (or die trying) all the other non Bricardi fish you have:o
well the older siblings are helping out guarding the new fry. theyve always been on their own before and had very small numbers of fry(6 or 7 everytime) so i moved them to a community tank and this broad has around 30-40 fry. At the moment all the fish know its best to stay clear so no outright aggression as yet.
brichardi are comunal rearers, all generations will help to bring the fry up,the only problem is they will eventually claim all the tank as theirs and possibly kill anything else in the tank, unless the tank is a big one.
