Hi All
I wonder if anyone can help. We have moved house and funds just wont allow for the new pond we want. Currently all our Koi are in temporary housing.
We have an Ogon of almost 3 feet who is stunning amd a large high quality Showa plus several Kohakus and a Kawarimono etc etc. All are well in excess of 18". I do not know how much to ask or where to start advertising them. Does anyone have any ideas please.
I can send some pictures as an example of the sizes etc.
Many thanks

We have got a adds section on here that you can put them on but i understand you would like to find out how much they are worth first before doing that.
You can add some pics of them on here someone out there might be able to help.
And welcome to ac... |

Hi Paul
Thanks for that.
I just hope we get a good home at a reasonable price for them. |

susie you would get a better price for them if you advertised them in koi carp magazine than on the classifieds on this site. |

Hi Susie, if I were you I would go around some Koi sellers and find out what they are selling ones like yours for. Remember that people who buy from private sellers will not expect to pay 'shop' prices. Have you thought of putting them on Ebay?
Good luck with rehoming them.
If you do get stuck, where abouts are you? I work for a fish rehoming charity, Calypso Fish Orphans, we do have rehomers almost everywhere.

Hi All
Thanks for your advice. We are in Barnsley and the fish are in Pontefract.
We are gutted at having to sell them. They go at silly prices from shops. Some we have paid in excess of £400 for and I don't think we will get anywhere near that for them even though they are almost twice the size they were when we bought them.
My fave of them all is our chagoi, it is so friendly but it cut its head last year and has a mark on it.
I might need to contact you Linda in the future if possible.
I will have a look at the magazines and see what our options are. I suppose I could advertise them in more than one place. I am a user of ebay so listing them on there would be fine too.
Thanks tons

I would contact a local society like the yorkshir koi society.
Try and ring up one of the comitee members and see what they say.
Also post in the for sale section of their site.
Pricing is always difficult - if you happen to have something that someone wants - you could get the right money, but otherwise it is difficult,
However be extrememly careful of theives - try to avoid giving out your address if you can .

I just thought I would update you all. The retailer that we buy all our items from and have bought a couple of Koi from has offered to take them all and sell them for us. He will take 25% of the sales. He has also said he will take our filter bay, UV, air pump, heater etc and do the same.
We are absolutely gutted at losing them but would hate for them to be stolen so know it is the correct decision.
Your help has been very appreciated.
Kind regards
Susie |
