Yes *** right name and shame bad online experiences and always send them a link to the discussion the bad press should always make them react and at least know they cant get away with it long term
Thats my 2c
PS:. it also helps cut the *** from the genuine sellers like my self |

did the seller offer a DOA guarantee? no, dont buy fish from them
did you test the water the fish were in? if not then you lost an opportunity to gather important information
did you photograph the fish? if not why not?
how were they bagged? poor packing could be the cause?
how did you make contact with him email or telephone? i agree with all of you this situation should not happen, but we are not judge and jury? what if this post was started by someone who wants to discredit this supposedly well known scottish discus seller, i would invite him to defend himself lets see if this was what we are led to believe it is?
somethingfishy i am sure you would welcome the chance to defend yourself if similar allegations were ever made against you?
i am in the early stages of setting up an online fish supply business and cant help but think, what would be a better way for my competition to ruin my chances of success?
i actually believe andrew but we need to give him a chance to defend himself AND make good.
andrew invite him to reply on this forum |

big cats i agree with you 100% i did say in my post "and always send them a link" That is so they have a chance to defend themselves.
If a seller is genuine and follows set policy's regarding delivery etc then they should have no problems in clearing the matter up
On the other hand if they are guilty it should help to get the situation rectified and or inform buyers of a sellers reputation (In an ideal world).

I had exactly the same thing happen to me buying from an advertiser on this site. The fish that did survive the journey were nothing like they should have been, and I still cant identify 2 of them. As required I photographed the fish & emailed the pictures immediatly, and followed this up with numerous emails. Every one was answered with the same thing, a link that proved to be an American porn site, lovely fella that he is.
This has now made me very wary of buying fish from breeders unless local and now stick with the higher priced retailers.
The seller incidentally still advertises his fish on this site, but what can I do? |

philr you should name and shame, my whole idea with my business plan came about because i didnt get what i expected from probably the largest online fish supplier. there is no need to pay top dollar it should be possible to buy fish online and get exactly what you want and for them to arrive alive or your money back |

I totally agree, my dispute was with a Malawi breeder using the name "zeth" in the Plymouth area. At least if you buy something through Ebay there is someone to complain to, but with these classified ads who do you turn to to complain? |

im sure a email to mr webmaster would help ! afterall he can stop them from advertising on the forum !!!
ok it might not get you your replacment fish or your money back but it would stop one of his outlets for his adverts |

my plan is to advertise here and list anything you want to buy on a buy it now on ebay until i get a good reputation its the only way i could offer piece of mind, and i do think the webmaster can help, maybe a seller rating system? |

the guy said he had never had a doa,and it all happened so quickly i sent him the money and could not get hold of him then 2 days later i got aphone call from him saying that the Discus were being sent that afternoon he had just left them with the courier company, when the Discus arrived the water was absolutly freezing, but here was 1 heat pack in the box, but i received them 4/5 hours sooner than i was supposed to,this is a lot of money £150 and i told him immediatley the fish were dead and i told him that if he likes i can send the photos of the dead fish, also i put them in the freezer so if he wanted to i could send them back to him fr proof, but he said he did not want proof, also even though the fish were dead the size, colour and codition of the fish were not what i expected, as these were supposed to be a proven pair who had brought up quite a few broods and were supposed to be very good parents, this has put me of buying fish from people and having them sent as there is absolutely nothing you can do even if the do give you a d.o.a. guarantee, who is going to enforce this, and what if i do name and shame does this not make me into a trouble maker? as he this dealer has regular delvieries of discus from a well known London Discus dealer and if i name and shame this wont get me the fish or the money back, all i am saying his be quite sure of who you deal with as there are quite a few unscrupulous dealers i have found deadling in tropical fish.
thanks

Hi Andrew
Also, not everyone is an expert in sending fish by overnight couriers. You need to use only trusted sellers who have done it time and again without any problem.
I am sorry to hear your loss. You should ask for a refund as all reputed seller should give you a guarantee for live arrival.

Hi Andrew,
In order that no one else removed of there hard earned cash, the right thing to do is to reveal the persons name making him known. There are to many people who are taken for fools.

We have had to remove the name of the retailer as Andrew stated that is was not him.
There is a recourse any buyer can take if there is an issue with bad customer service from somebody advertising on this website.
You need to email webmaster aqua@ukwebs.co.uk and inform me specifically of any problems. I can then deal with the seller, and if I choose, I can freeze his account and delete his adverts. At least that stops other being affected and may be leverage to get refunds etc. |
