If you go to 70/30 then you will be ok . But i always beleive its better to be safe than sorry and for the price of RO right compared to a discus i think its money well spent .

I've got some lovely discus and only ever added RO water once. I think it depends more on your water hardness than the fish them selves.

It would depend on the consistency of your tap water, if you tested the tap water seperately you would be able to condition it before adding it to the tank, as i found to my own cost there was more nitrate in our water than there was in the fish tank and lost the lot. Add prime + to erradicate chlorine etc before adding the water to your tank tho.
